A Vertical Slice
A solo-journaling game about an archeological dig. The past does not stay buried.
About the game:
Draw playing cards cards to generate evocative prompts (over 2500 possibilities!) and record your finds in a journal. Discover the history of a single site as you venture further back into time. It's a story told in reverse!
Content:
Mentions of blood and fire. Suggested, but unseen, violence. No sexual content.
The story is yours to tell exactly as you see fit.

Neat concept, very pretty presentation.
Thank you! I got a lot of feedback on the design and I think it turned out well. This is my prettiest game to date.
Great concept and a great use of playing cards! I love when games use their components to directly reflect an aspect of the fiction!
Thanks!
If you like this, check out one of my very first games. It uses a similar mechanic: https://sdevet.itch.io/those-who-stayed-in-the-city
Very nice. I love the idea. For me, you managed to capture the elements of "The Dig". One might also lay down the cards in a 3x3 square representing a larger site. It would allow for greater speculation about the happenings of the past
That's a very clever idea! Now we have a horizontal slice as well as a vertical slice...
