Those Who Stayed in the City
A downloadable game
It’s been several generations since everything changed. The city is still home to many, but far fewer than before. The days are filled with birdsong and the night sky is full of stars.
You are a visitor to the city, equipped only with a map of the old world, a journal, and an open mind.
You are here to meet those who stayed in the city.
"Those Who Stayed in the City" is a solo journaling game about a walk through a post-apocalyptic city.
As a traveler, you will use a paper map of a city as it exists today to document your trip through the city as it exists long after some collapse. You will draw cards from a standard deck to prompt you to describe what you observe and learn. You will never see the whole picture, but you will cut a slice through history as you draw a line across the map.
This is an open-ended game about interacting with a community that endures. It touches on themes of change and loss. It is combat free.
You will need:
- A paper map of a city, the bigger the better
- A journal or loose paper
- A pen or pencil
- A deck of playing cards (jokers removed)
